Visiting V-Care
What should I bring to my first visit?
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card and a list of every medicine you take, including vitamins and over-the-counter products. Records or recent test results from other doctors help too. Filling in the new patient forms before you come saves time at check-in.
Do you take my insurance?
V-Care accepts a wide range of plans: Commercial, Medicare and Medicare Advantage, Medicaid, Marketplace and TRICARE. See the full list on our insurance page. Acceptance varies by plan, network and provider, so call (281) 984-4550 before your visit if you'd like us to check yours.
Do you see children?
Yes, from birth. V-Care cares for patients from newborns to older adults, including well-child checkups and school physicals, and provides Texas Health Steps (THSteps) Medicaid checkups. If someone other than a parent or legal guardian will bring a child to a visit, please complete the minor authorization form first.
Can I be seen without insurance?
Yes. Cash (self-pay) patients are welcome. Ask about the cost of your visit when you book. You also have the right to a Good Faith Estimate of your expected charges.
How do I get a copy of my medical records?
Use the records request form to ask for your records or to have them sent to another doctor. If you have questions about the request, call us at (281) 984-4550.
How do I request a prescription refill?
Send a refill request or call (281) 984-4550. Ask a few days before you run out, so there's time to process it. Some medicines need a visit before they can be refilled, and we'll tell you if yours does.
What should I do after hours or in an emergency?
For a medical emergency, call 911. V-Care is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM, and our online forms are not monitored around the clock. If you're unsure where to go, read urgent care or the emergency room?
How do I update my insurance?
Use the insurance update form as soon as your coverage changes, and bring your new card to your next visit. Keeping it current helps us bill the right plan.
Can I get help in another language?
Our team speaks English, Spanish, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi. Tell us when you book if you'd like your visit in one of them, if you need help in another language, or if you have hearing, vision or other communication needs, so we can plan your visit. Our nondiscrimination notice and accessibility statement have more detail.
How can I share feedback about my visit?
We'd like to hear it, whether it's praise or a problem. Use our feedback form, call (281) 984-4550 or email contact@v-carehealth.com. If something needs fixing quickly, a phone call during office hours is fastest.
Urgent care
Do I need an appointment for urgent care?
No. Walk-ins are always welcome during clinic hours, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. If you’d rather call ahead, (281) 984-4550 lets us tell you what to expect when you arrive, and you can request a visit online.
Should I go to urgent care or the emergency room?
Urgent care suits problems that need seeing today but aren’t life-threatening, such as a cut that needs closing, a sprain or a fever. For chest pain, trouble breathing, stroke signs, severe bleeding or a serious head injury, call 911 or go to the ER. Our guide to urgent care or the ER explains more.
Can urgent care treat a broken bone?
We treat sprains, strains and suspected minor fractures. There’s no X-ray machine in the clinic, so if the exam points to a fracture that needs imaging, we’ll tell you where to have the X-ray done and follow up on the result. A bone pushing through the skin, or a limb that is badly out of shape, needs the emergency room.
Are you open on weekends?
No. V-Care is open Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM. If you need care while we’re closed and it’s serious, go to the nearest emergency room, and call 911 in an emergency.
Does insurance cover an urgent care visit?
We accept most major plans, including Medicare and Medicaid, and cash patients are welcome. What you pay depends on your plan, so check with your insurer if cost is a concern. You can see every plan we accept.
Billing and insurance
Do you bill my insurance for me?
Yes. We send the claim to your plan for you. Bring your insurance card to every visit so we bill the right plan, and tell us when your coverage changes.
When do I pay my copay?
Copays are collected at your visit. Any other balance your plan says you owe, such as a deductible or coinsurance, is billed to you after your plan processes the claim.
Can I pay my bill online?
Not yet. Online bill pay is coming soon. Until then, you can pay at the front desk, or call (281) 984-4550 with any questions about your bill.
What if I can't pay my bill all at once?
Call us at (281) 984-4550 before the due date and we'll talk through your options. It's always better to call early than to let a bill go unpaid.
I don't have insurance. Can I still be seen?
Yes. Cash (self-pay) patients are welcome. Ask about the cost when you book, and ask for a Good Faith Estimate of your expected charges.
Physicals
What’s the difference between a sports physical and an annual physical?
A sports physical checks whether it’s safe to play, with a focus on the heart, lungs and joints. An annual physical looks at your overall health, including screenings and long-term conditions. A sports physical doesn’t replace a yearly checkup, so ask when you book if you’d like both looked at.
Can you fill out my child’s school or sports form?
Yes. Bring the form your school, camp or league gave you, with the parent section completed. The doctor fills in the medical part after the exam and signs it.
Do I need to fast before a physical?
Usually only if fasting blood work is planned, such as some cholesterol or blood sugar tests. If you’re not sure, call us at (281) 984-4550 before your appointment and we’ll tell you.
How often do I need a sports physical?
That’s set by the school or league, not by us, and many ask for one each year. Check the form or ask the coach before you book.
Do you check vision and hearing?
Yes. A full physical here includes vision and hearing screening, which most school, sports and employment forms ask for. Bring your glasses or contact lenses if you use them.
Need to be seen?
Request an appointment online, or call and we’ll find you a time. Same-day urgent visits are available.
