One practice for the whole family

V-Care sees patients from newborns to older adults, so parents, children and grandparents can all come to the same clinic. When one practice handles your checkups, your sick visits and your follow-ups, your history is already in front of whoever is treating you. Nothing has to be explained from scratch. Families come to us from across west Houston, including Bear Creek, Copperfield, Katy and Cypress.

We were formerly SKC Family Clinic. The physicians and team are the same; only the name has changed. Care is led by Sadiq A. Syed, M.D., a Diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine with more than 30 years in adult medicine, preventive care and chronic disease management.

Wellness visits and preventive screenings

A yearly visit is a chance to look ahead instead of reacting to a problem. We go over your health and family history, check your blood pressure and weight, review your medicines and talk through the screenings that make sense for your age, sex and risk factors.

Screenings look for problems early, often before you notice anything. Some happen during the exam. Others mean blood work, an EKG or an ultrasound, many of which can be done here through our in-house diagnostics. If it’s been a while, read what to expect at an annual physical.

Women’s and men’s health

Some health questions are specific to women or to men, and some are simply easier to raise with a doctor who already knows you. Bring them to any visit: a change you’ve noticed, a screening you’re unsure about, or a symptom you’ve been putting off asking about. If something needs a specialist, we’ll tell you and explain why.

Living with a long-term condition

Diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol can go unnoticed for years while they quietly affect the heart, kidneys and blood vessels. Regular follow-up is how changes are caught early and treatment is adjusted when it needs to be. The same is true of asthma, COPD and thyroid conditions: steady attention is far easier than a crisis.

Between visits, you can ask for a repeat prescription with the refill request form, and your doctor will tell you when the next check is due.

Vaccines and injections

We don’t give vaccines in the clinic. At a visit we review your vaccination record and write a prescription for any vaccine you’re due, so you can have it given at your pharmacy. Some treatments are given here: B12 injections, testosterone injections where they’re appropriate, and the injections used in medical weight management.

Insurance and your first visit

We accept most major plans, including Medicare and Medicaid — see the full list. Paying for yourself? Cash patients are welcome too.

Common questions

Is V-Care the same clinic as SKC Family Clinic?

Yes. V-Care Family Practice & Urgent Care was formerly SKC Family Clinic. The physicians and team are the same; only the name has changed.

Do you see children as well as adults?

Yes. V-Care sees patients from newborns to older adults, so the whole family can see the same practice. If you have a question before your child’s first visit, call us at (281) 984-4550.

What’s the difference between primary care and urgent care?

Primary care is your ongoing relationship with a doctor: checkups, screenings and managing long-term conditions. Urgent care is for something that needs attention today, such as a cut or a sudden fever. At V-Care both happen in the same practice, so an urgent visit can feed straight into your regular care.

Do you accept Medicare and Medicaid?

Yes. We accept traditional Medicare, several Medicare Advantage and Medicaid plans, and most major commercial plans. Check the plans we accept or call us to confirm yours.

How do I get a prescription refilled?

Use the refill request form or call us during office hours. Some medicines need a visit or recent lab work before they can be renewed, and we’ll let you know if yours does.

Do you give vaccines or flu shots?

Not in the clinic. We check which vaccines you or your child are due and write a prescription, so the shot can be given at your pharmacy. Bring the record back to your next visit so your file stays current.
